Where do I begin; to write a book, build a website, change my life, find a partner, climb a mountain [fill in the blank]…
Where do you begin anything?
The world is full of a million helpful answers… ‘at the start’, ‘start with what you have’, ‘one step’, ‘one bite of the elephant at a time’.
And I imagine most of us kind of know that ‘one step at a time’ is the way to get things done in practical terms, it’s how everything gets done isn’t it?… it’s the no-brainer response that we get from coaches, family members and friends who don’t really understand why we’re struggling in the first place.
But, none of those replies really see, or help to overcome the resistance that’s making us struggle in the first place, because in reality ‘where do I begin’ comes from a deeper place than actually wanting to know the steps of 1-2-3.
Where do I begin comes from a deep miscomprehension of where you are now and what you are now. Where do I begin? always needs to start with the question, ‘where am I now?’
You see, a beginning is an illusion. There is no such thing as a start, no such thing as a launch or a beginning to something new – all of these models of belief are built on a foundation of mis-truth – that in fact at some point, at some mystical moment in the future ‘I will begin’.
However if we look beyond the belief of a beginning happening at all, we see the truth of the evolution of everything, the alchemy of every single moment, thing, action and understanding; taken chosen, shared and believed up to this point.
There is no beginning because nothing begins; it simply flows from one state of belief to another. In our thoughts we go from the belief of ‘not done’, to a belief of ‘doing’, to a belief of ‘done’. And then once ‘done’ is achieved the next round of thoughts and belief about beginning comes around again – and at each moment, each second of belief that we’re reaching toward a beginning, we lose sight of the fact that WE ALREADY ARE.
We are always already moving toward something, simply by living in the now – we are evolving, collecting and becoming the thing that we ‘will be’ tomorrow – but we already ARE today.
The external achievements of ‘done’ and ‘doing’ and ‘beginning’ and ‘creating’ are simply labels that we place on ourselves to explain where we think we are, as opposed to where we are right now. And in that opposition, in the comparison of one to another, we always, always, always fall short of our own expectations and created beliefs of where we ‘should be’, ‘ought to be’ or ‘might have been if only’.
So whatever it is you are searching for, to know ‘Where to begin’ – know this… YOU ALREADY ARE. You already have. You already do. In this moment, the very fact that you’re asking the question shows that you have ALREADY begun. The tables have been set, the course has been laid, and life will unfold that way – so long as you are ready for that. Are you?
Again another thought appears, ‘I’m not ready because I don’t know how or where to begin’ but if you let go of the belief totally that you are not beginning anything, that you have already begun, then there is no question to ask of where to start. This then also creates a vacuum for the ‘I’m not ready’ to disperse itself in, because if you’ve already begun, you are by definition already ready, and already able to do the thing that you’re already doing – just by being YOU, now, in this second.
The fear of both beliefs of ‘I don’t know where to begin’ and ‘I don’t feel ready’ is nothing more than a mirage that moves forward with you as you walk your next steps in the Now. One step at a time. One choice, one feeling, one action in a moment.
The fear comes from the projection and judgement of a future – created through fear itself – of your inability to live up to a self projected version of yourself that will never, and has never, existed.
All is thought – all is projection – all is fear creating fear – which lives nowhere but in your own thoughts.
SO STAY OUT OF THERE.
Come back into the Now, into the state of no beginning, no end, just NOW. Already doing, already moving, already Being.
So when you ask the question ‘Where do I begin’? The answer is always the question… ‘Where am I now’? What can I do now, what feels right now, which direction am I facing now.
Where do I begin? becomes Where am I now?
Where am I now? leads to What’s the next choice?
What’s the next choice leads back to and finds its answer in Where am I now?
One natural step, one chilled out choice in a natural flow of I Am.
No stress, no leaps; simply knowing.
You already are, so be that. You’ve already come so far along this road, this life, this flow – so the next step if taken in the Now, is simplicity itself.
Where do I begin? You’re already living it!
